Project #1: Submit your music to Coverville

Every week or so, I will post a project that could take anywhere from a few minutes to a few days, depending on what you have already produced or set up. The idea is to provide other musicians with concrete advice that is discussed in palatable chunks to help build your online presence.

Coverville is one of iTunes most highly rated podcasts. It was founded and is currently hosted by Brian Ibbott who lives ten miles west of Denver. Brian accepts submissions via email or snail mail from independent artists. He produces three episodes a week out of his home featuring six – twelve songs, so I think he is enthusiastic about receiving new material.

I would suggest you have a mixed and mastered version of the song that is for sale on iTunes before submitting. Brians helps to promote the musicians by posting a direct link to the artist’s iTunes page where they are selling the cover song he played on the show. If you have a video that you have made of the song, make sure to send Brian a link to that as well.

Check out Coverville’s website and Coverville’s submission page for more details on the show.

Today I submitted two covers. One is the Tom Waits song “I Hope That I Don’t Fall in Love With You” and the other one is the Modest Mouse song “Bankrupt on Selling” that I posted earlier. Wish me luck!
