laurel brauns: Freelance Writing

Freelance Writing

While my first passion is songwriting...

I have been writing for newspapers since high school, and throughout the last three years I've dedicated myself to the craft of magazine and web writing. I wrote for BEND LIVING as their monthly music columnist, for Gusto Magazine as a food and wine writer and as a regular contributor to The Bulletin's many lifestyle magazines and event guides. During this time I wrote most of the recreation, culture and history pages for the newly revamped VisitBend.com, the website for Bend's Visitor and Convention Bureau which regularly receives about 25-45,000 unique visits per month. I also traveled to Whistler, B.C. on assignment for BEND LIVING to write an article on summer tourism in Canada.

I have done publicity work for the Music Hall in Portsmouth, NH, and for the Tower Theatre and Visit Bend here in Oregon.

Currently, I work for Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe and Hydroflask doing marketing, pr and social media.
