Writing for the web requires finding a company’s authentic voice and using it consistently and artfully. I love to tell a story in an organic way and I’ve studied in Search Engine Optimization extensively. By combining these two techniques, I can craft high-ranking copy that flows naturally with an authoritative voice.

This is the official website for the Bend Visitor & Convention Bureau. In 2008, the organization completely revamped their website and hired me to write the majority of the content.

Cross Country Skiing in Bend, OR
With one of the longest ski seasons in North America, Bend is home to the Northwest’s premier cross-country ski team, XC Oregon, and is a regular spring training ground for the U.S. Ski Team. But for most of us who just want to get out there and enjoy the beauty of winter, the breathtaking scenery, steady snowfall, and consistent sunshine of Central Oregon, Bend makes the perfect place to learn the sport.

At Mt. Bachelor, explore 56 km of Nordic trails that weave through the Deschutes National Forest, including easy loops for beginners, and double diamonds with 600-foot elevation gains for experts. The Mt. Bachelor Nordic Center has skis available for rent that are waxed and sharpened daily, along with new equipment and demos from Rossignol, Madshus and Alpina. The Nordic Center has some of the best instructors in the area teaching both skate and classic style skiing. There are affordable packages for beginners which include rentals, a day pass and a one-hour lesson.

Trail Running in Bend, Oregon:
Three hundred days of sunshine and the unique high desert topography of Bend, Oregon have made it a trail runner’s dream town. Even when there is snow in the mountains, miles of desert trails wind through sagebrush, manzanita and volcanic rock formations at lower elevations. With 51 miles of in-town trails maintained by Bend Metro Parks & Recreation, and hundreds of miles of mountain biking, cross country and hiking trails a short drive from town, it is no wonder that Bend was named “America’s Best Trail Running Town”  by the editors of Outside Magazine, and was the natural choice for the USA Track & Field Trail Half Marathon and 50k National Championships.

Before hitting the trail, stop into FootZone, the downtown “barbershop” of the local running scene. There is a great selection of trail maps and the store’s friendly employees will be happy to point you in the right direction. FootZone also presents a number of popular trail-running races throughout the summer months. With names like the Dirty Half, and the Haulin’ Aspen, these races might be worth planning your vacation around.

Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe

For the last three years, I’ve been the marketing and PR director at Tumalo Creek, Central Oregon’s largest paddlesports store and outdoor learning center. I was hired originally to help the company through a name change and major rebranding. Here is a sample of some of our webpages.

Experience. Adventure. Community.

That’s what we’re all about here at Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe. We’re your locally owned and operated paddling shop creating life-long paddlers for over a decade. Visit us at our retail store and learning center, located right on the banks of the Deschutes River, just downstream from the Old Mill. Sign up for classes, take a full-day river tour, or browse the largest selection of kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, canoes and rafting gear in Central Oregon.

Our staff has over a hundred years of combined experience exploring remote coastlines, leading sea kayaking tours from Mexico to Alaska, and navigating some of the world’s most challenging whitewater. And while we love to share our stories, we’re most interested in hearing yours: Let’s get you out on the water with the knowledge, skills and gear you need to enjoy a safe and comfortable afternoon paddle or a full-on sea expedition. And then make sure to come back and tells us all about it.

We’re open 24/7 at our new online store. We’re always happy to price match and we want to make it as easy as we can to help you support local business.
